Business Consultant
Date of Interview: April 27, 2016
When you're taking care of the finances for your small business, you can recover pretty quickly from making the wrong choice in business accounting software. If you're advising other businesses, however, that misstep impacts your clients as well.
That's why picking the right accounting software for small businesses is quite important, something that Sandra Anderson at Small Business Specialists is very familiar with.
Good for her business
As a business consultant, Ms. Anderson has advised New Zealand entrepreneurs for almost two decades, working with them in a number of areas such as financial management, development and strategic planning.
For many aspects of her own business' accounting, Ms. Anderson has been using CashManager for 10 to 15 years - so long that she's not sure exactly when she started. Using the software for such a long time, she's been more than happy with its functionality.
"Why change it if you're happy with what it's producing and what you're able to do?" she said.
"It's not rocket science. The stuff that we want out of the software, if it's all that you need, why change?"
Ms. Anderson has also been a fan of the customer service behind CashManager, noting that the support staff have always been helpful and able to resolve issues when they arose.
The right fit for her clients
In addition to using CashManager for her own business, Ms. Anderson also advises her clients to use it.
"I recommend it to clients, mainly because it is a very easy to use program," she said.
"Some of the other programs that I have looked at are quite complicated for a smaller business to actually use, but this is very simple, and my clients have found that as well."
When it comes to the options for small business software, Ms. Anderson has done the research to make sure she's giving her clients the most solid recommendations.
"I've looked at quite a few different software packages over a period of time, and found that they were just poor choices for my client base," she said.
"I've looked at them and said, 'No, that's not going to fit them."
Ms. Anderson also noted that she felt CashManager was "a perfect fit", particularly for businesses in the services and retail sectors. For her, the simplicity of use and the information it handles are the biggest benefits.
"That's why I will always go back to CashManager," Ms. Anderson concluded.
