Small businesses are key to New Zealand's future prosperity

The Labour Party has announced that small businesses are of the highest priority to its policies, with the future prosperity of New Zealand reliant on these enterprises.

SMEs will now be the foundation of the political party's long-term plan, with the sector forming a major part of the growing economic outlook of the country.

Spirit of innovation

"New Zealand is a pioneering nation and it is this spirit of innovation which drives our small businesses," explained Labour Party leader Andrew Little.

Small businesses play a huge role within the wider employment market across New Zealand, with a substantial number of job opportunities coming from companies with relatively small workforces.

"These companies [SMEs] generated 41 per cent of the new jobs created in the past year," Mr Little went on to say.

Driven by ideas and ambition

Innovation and unique ideas are of course two drivers that lead to success for SMEs, and the Labour Party will look to structure any policies around those two cornerstones.

"We will ensure there is training and investment capital so those who want to make a living off their own ideas and ambitions can," Mr Little concluded.

There is also an underlying ambition to make New Zealand the nation with the lowest unemployment rate anywhere in the developed world. If that is achieved, and small businesses across the country continue to thrive, then the job market and economy will both ultimately prosper.

With growth a possibility for more small businesses, keeping track of the amount of capital throughout the enterprise is crucial.

Implementing small business software such as CashManager from Accomplish can help in efforts to do just that, while also offering the ability to budget and forecast any ongoing changes in cash flow.
