Whilst the traditional powerhouse economies - China, USA, Japan - are well known for their ability to house and maintain any company, could New Zealand be carving a niche as one of the best places for small business in the global market?

According to research by The World Bank, that could well be the case. Their Doing Business 2014 report has found New Zealand to be the third easiest place to broker deals - behind Singapore and Hong Kong.

The report covers a number of factors, with the most prominent being how easy it is circumnavigate any red tape that restricts private-sector companies.

Whilst getting over those pesky issues that the government has in place is a big stumbling block, there are several other factors that can make dealing with your small business easier:

Utilise social media

Having something you post go viral could potentially change your business overnight. Whilst it can be easier said than done at times, using social media to interact with both business-to-business contacts and the wider public can give your company the edge if you do it right.

Consider technology

Increasing your small business's use of technology is a fast and efficient way to improve how easy you are to interact with. Using software such as CashManager from Accomplish can give you a range of benefits that will make life easier for both your B2C and B2B customers, increasing their confidence in your company.

Need to itemise and record someone's order? Using the Invoicing Module makes it easy. Want to transmit funds to clients or customers? Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) capability can keep things simple. Using small business software won't just improve your efficiency, it'll aid the experience of those you do deals with, too.

How easy it is to engage with your small business could be the difference between your contacts choosing you or your competitors. Going social, using technology and dodging that government red tape will consistently see you standing out from the crowd.
