Simplicity has always been the name of the game. Regardless of what industry you're in or your experiences with accounting, utilising an accounting software package that is simple and streamlined is sure to make your life easier.
Just ask Darcy Gilberd. Prior to going out and starting his own business, he went through a period of trial and error to help find the perfect software solution for him.
"The family accountants put me onto CashManager when I decided to open my own business. They tried a couple of other accounting packages with me - which I absolutely hated - and then they gave me CashManager to try and I found it brilliant."
Setting out to open a mobile repairs business, Darcy needed something that would allow him to keep track of his cashflow and financial health without complication.
"Basically, its just the ease of operation. For instance, I was running a number of machines and because of the way CashManager is, you can very quickly set up a separate account for every machine.
"So you can put your field costs, maintenance [and all associated costs] into that one account and that very quickly tells you things like what your fuel consumption has been over the last period, what your costs are, and everything like that."
When asked if he would recommend it to others in his position, Darcy didn't miss a beat.
"Definitely. Particularly for people who are self employed and working on their own. It's not complicated. The fact that you can get access to information very, very quickly from CashManager is what makes it so easy to use.
"I'm not an accountant, and many people who are self employed and work on their own are doing it because they love the job. If they loved doing accounting, they'd be an accountant."
